Mr. Brock was accompanied by other members of the senior management team of Atlas Copco in China. General Manager of Shanghai Bolaite Compressor Co., Ltd., Zhao Yu provided an introduction to the factory and showed visitors the new factory which has been built in accordance with Atlas Copco’s standard criteria, with streamlined work-flow processing layout, an advanced sewage treatment system and air-driven tools. 4 I9 f0 h' q" @8 D; ? q5 I% q. Situated in the Jiading District of Shanghai, the new compressor production facility will manufacture Bolaite brand piston compressors and oil-injected screw compressors below 450 kW. The new facility not only includes production capabilities, but also a customer center and a product development facility employing a total of around 300 people. - L" l1 r8 c* g* ]& A
Mr. Brock explained the growing significance of China to Atlas Copco: "China is a fast growing market, and has now become the second largest market for the Atlas Copco Group, just behind the United States. China has 1.3 billion people and a fast increasing GDP, from the growth rate of China and its potential, China will definitely become the largest market, and the question is just when. India, Russia and Brazil are also growing very fast, the mining industry in Australia and South Africa has also experienced rapid growth, but they cannot compete on market size.”
